Happiness
I just received my first payment for writing! It’s a small payment, but it is monetary compensation for writing. I’ve dreamed of this day for twelve years. I have been doing happy dances around the house since I got home (very professional, I know). I’m being paid to write. I am a paid writer. I just thought I’d share that.

Language Change
All languages change through time, but how they change, what drives these changes, and what kinds of changes we can expect may not be obvious. By comparing different languages, different dialects of the same language, or different historical stages of the same language, we can discover the history of languages and language groups or families. We can make hypotheses about grammar, vocabulary, and...

WILLIAM BLAKE   An idea, like a ghost, must be spoken to a little before it will explain itself. CHARLES DICKENS   If writers had to wait until their precious psyches were completely serene there wouldn’t be much writing done. WILLIAM STYRON   I sit in the dark and wait for a...

Favorite Tea Brand?
In my opinion, you can’t beat Twinings of London (especially their Irish Breakfast blend). I could live on it. Does anyone else have a favorite brand, or a favorite blend of which you just can’t get enough?
